Chapter 04
Transformation Complete
Recalling everything he had experienced over these past few days, Murong Xiao calmly closed his eyes, his intent crystal clear.
Seeing that Murong Xiao had made this choice, Letitia and Mu Yudie exchanged a glance of regret, and the former raised her scepter to begin.
Just then, a vine suddenly shot out from the Spring of Life behind Murong Xiao. With agile speed, it wrapped around his waist and, before Murong Xiao could react, forcefully dragged him into the Spring of Life…
The Spring of Life, produced by the Ancient Tree of Life, did not just contain vast life energy; it also possessed extreme corrosive properties. The high-tech, form-fitting suit that had survived both the extreme heat and cold on the desolate planet melted away in an instant, and Murong Xiaoâs consciousness was once again forcibly plunged into a coma.
Because he was unconscious, Murong Xiao didn’t see the streaks of multicolored elven energy flying out of his body, eventually forming spheres of light that fused into the nearby tree wallsâa truly magnificent sight.
Elven Queen Letitia watched this scene, appearing calm, but in reality, her mind was already in communication with the Ancient Tree of Life.
The Ancient Tree of Life was the treasure of the elven race. Only elves with an elemental affinity of 99% or higher could communicate with it. This was the threshold for becoming an Elven Prince, Princess, or the Monarch.
It was because of this that the elven history books recorded periods of decline without a ruler; without a monarch to communicate with the Ancient Tree of Life, it was very difficult for the elven race to obtain the tree’s precise assistance. Only when an elven leader appeared could things improve.
Therefore, the elven race felt immense pride whenever someone with 99% elemental affinity was born, as they would possess many Princes and Princesses. It was the hallmark of a prosperous and flourishing elven race.
Through their mental communication, Letitia understood the Ancient Tree of Lifeâs intentions. It had lived for so long and had only ever seen one person with 100% elemental affinity: Murong Xiao. It could not allow him to perish so simply and hastily. Since the boy had endured the grueling process of being a cyborg, he shouldn’t end up this way; after all, he was innocent.
However, even though Letitia had initially discussed the two options with him, she was concerned. If he were raised well, he would become a great asset to the elves, but if not, he could become a huge liability. Still, the Ancient Tree of Life wanted to try.
Soaked and baptized in the Spring of Life, Murong Xiaoâs once-shattered body finallyçĺ (glowed with) new life. It wasn’t just a recovery to his original state; rather, it was the final completion of the cyborg fusion.
Although the elven energy within Murong Xiaoâs body had been cleared outâwhich, theoretically, should have restored him to his human stateâthe Ancient Tree of Life feared that if that happened, the terrifying elemental affinity within him might vanish as well. Thus, it injected new elven energy into him and used that energy to guide Murong Xiaoâs further transformation.
Soon, Murong Xiaoâs form began to deviate from the human species. His petite, fragile body not only shrank slightly, but his ears became pointed like those of the other elves. His hair, originally pitch-black, turned silver. Under the strong light, the silver hair would even scatter a seven-colored glow, far from simple silver.
When the baptism ended, he was still the same person, but his figure and appearance had evolved significantly from before. Yet, there remained faint traces of his past self, making him look unmistakably like him.
Elven Queen Letitia watched the entire process in astonishment. It was her first time learning that the Ancient Tree of Life possessed such abilities: “So, he has now become a little girl? Is this child a human or an elf now?”
“A half-human, half-elf. As long as she wishes, her appearance can switch between human and elf. You two should decide who is willing to take her as an apprentice.”
The Ancient Tree of Lifeâs voice appeared in Letitiaâs mind. Simultaneously, Murong Xiaoâs body was fished out of the Spring of Life by more vines and left to dry in the air.
Mu Yudie was not part of the elven race, and theoretically, she shouldn’t have been able to hear the Ancient Tree of Life. However, having activated a secret technique of spiritual sharing with Letitia, she could perceive the communication, so she heard the suggestion immediately.
Murong Xiaoâs talent was excellent, and she truly did have some interest in taking him as an apprentice. However, she guessed that Murong Xiao might be destined to be cultivated as a trump card for the elven race, so she didn’t intend to make things difficult for Letitia: “It will be fine for you to hand him over to your elven race for cultivation. If necessary, I can occasionally come over to help with the apprenticeship.”
“Fine, we’re both so close, why stand on ceremony? You were human before, so you might have more affinity with him. I have that girl to take care of already, I don’t have that much energy, so this girl will be left to you to raise.”
“Thanks. I have a good plan.”
…
By the time Murong Xiao woke up, four days had passed.
Opening his eyes, the memories from before he fainted flooded his mind in an instant. He remembered everything.
Looking at his surroundings, Murong Xiao quickly deduced that this was a massive tree hollow. Because of magical intervention, this hollow was not a random natural cavity, but rather a roomâand she was currently inside it.
At the same time, Murong Xiao keenly noticed his transformation for the first time. Her body did not feel as painful as it had before; clearly, she had received excellent rest.
Not only that, the sudden long, flowing hair made Murong Xiaoâs head feel a bit unaccustomed…
“Yo, you’re awake.”
Before the person was seen, the voice arrived. Murong Xiao, however, had long since sensed exactly where Mu Yudie would appear.
Sure enough, a few seconds later, a spatial crack opened in the air where Murong Xiao was looking, and Mu Yudie, draped in flowing pink robes, stepped out unhurriedly.
Mu Yudie wasn’t surprised by Murong Xiaoâs reaction; after all, with 100% elemental affinity, Murong Xiao was extremely sensitive to all elements in the surroundings. It wouldn’t be strange if she knew exactly where she was going to appear.
Seeing Murong Xiao just staring at her without any intention of speaking, Mu Yudie felt a bit stifled, her desire to tease him unfulfilled.
“Don’t you have anything you want to ask?”
