Chapter – 06
Dreaming of a Man
Li Yang had an erotic dream.
She dreamed she was entangled with a man, intimately entwined in bed.
The dream was so vividāshe could clearly feel the man’s warmth, the texture of his skin, and the way her body trembled uncontrollably as he kissed his way down her.
But she couldn’t see his face.
She could only smell a crisp, clean fragrance on him.
When he lifted her, her head rested passively against his shoulder. Her gaze dropped, and she saw a golden, strangely shaped insect tattoo shimmering on his lean back.
“Who are you…”
She grabbed his arm, her eyes dazed, her voice hoarse.
Through the haze, the man seemed to smile.
“I’m your future husband.”
Husband?
Song Wenjing?
But this man’s feel and build were nothing like Song Wenjing!
Li Yang wanted to ask more, but the man kissed her rosy lips.
“Don’t talk.”
…
Just as they were about to reach the crucial moment, Li Yang suddenly woke up.
She was drenched in sweat and sat up abruptly in bed.
The throes of the dream hadn’t faded yetāher eyes were still seductive and hazy, her temples damp, her face flushed crimson as she gasped for air.
It took her a long while to fully wake up. She clutched her head in shame and kicked her feet about in frustration.
Ahhhh!
She’d actually had an erotic dream!
And the man in the dreamāshe didn’t even know him!
It wasn’t Song Wenjing, not her favorite idol, not anyone she recognized!
She sat there blankly for a long time before grabbing her phone to check the time.
5:00 AM.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead, turned on the bedside lamp, and sat up.
She felt a faint ache near her chest and rubbed the skin there, but didn’t notice anything unusual.
She tried to go back to sleep but couldn’t.
She thought, *Could Xin Tang have been right after all?* That insufferable woman had always said that going too long without sex would mess with her hormones. Was she really having a hormonal imbalance?
It was almost funny.
She was only twenty-fourānot exactly at that voracious age yet!
She wasn’t sure how much time passed before she finally drifted back into a hazy sleep.
When she woke again, it was already bright daylight.
She felt like she’d only dozed off for a moment, but the time on her phone read 9:00 AM.
Listlessly, she crawled out of bed and opened the door, heading for the bathroom to take a shower.
The moment she opened the door, she ran straight into a warm chest again.
Jiang Yan.
Li Yang rubbed her nose and stepped back, slightly exasperated.
Why was this kid always standing at her door!
“Youā”
“Sisterā”
Both of them spoke at the same time.
Jiang Yan immediately fell silent, waiting for her to go first.
His upturned phoenix eyes were bright and clear at that moment, innocent and well-behaved.
Li Yang’s heart softened, and her earlier frustration dissipated. She said, “Good morning.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she startled herself.
Her voice was hoarse, languid, carrying a post-coital, sultry quality.
That erotic dream had way too much staying power!
She felt both horrified and ashamedāJiang Yan was still a minor!
This was completely inappropriate!
Without overthinking it, she cleared her throat loudly a few times, trying to get her voice back to normal.
Fortunately, Jiang Yan didn’t seem to notice. He blinked and asked softly, “Sister, is your throat feeling off?”
The back of Li Yang’s ears burned uncontrollably. She had no choice but to say, “I had the AC on too much yesterday. Might be a little cold.”
Jiang Yan glanced at her and nodded. “Mm.”
Li Yang, feeling guilty, found that single “Mm” somehow loaded with meaning.
A little annoyed, she couldn’t help adding, “I really do have a cold!”
Jiang Yan blinked a few times, looking utterly baffled. “Sister, I didn’t say I didn’t believe you.”
Only then did Li Yang realize she was overreacting.
Feeling guilty, she lowered her head and changed the subject. “You… haven’t eaten yet, have you?”
Jiang Yan stepped aside. “I made breakfastācongee and fried eggs. I was just about to see if you were awake.”
Li Yang paused, then felt even more embarrassed.
Here was an underage boy, on his very first day staying at her place, and instead of her taking care of him, he’d made her breakfast instead.
“That’s really… so much trouble. Where’s your mom?”
As she spoke, Li Yang looked toward the living room.
Jiang Yan lowered his gaze.
“Mom’s already left.”
“Ah?” Li Yang was surprised. “So soon?”
Jiang Yan pointed to the coffee table in the living room. “Mom left a card. She said there’s two hundred thousand in it to compensate Uncle Li. She was afraid you wouldn’t accept it, so she left early this morning.”
“She also said to please give the money to Uncle Li. Once she gets her first month’s salary, she’ll transfer me the living expenses for staying here.”
Li Yang hurried over to the coffee table and saw a card sitting there.
She sighed and picked it up.
“Alright, I’ll hold onto this money for now. Tell your mom to take care of herself and not to worry about your living expenses. I’m your sisterāit’s only natural for me to look after you.”
Jiang Yan nodded. “Thank you, sister.”
The more polite and well-behaved he acted, the more awkward Li Yang felt.
Her gaze fell on the dining table, and she cleared her throat again. “I’m going to take a quick shower. Then we’ll… eat?”
Jiang Yan nodded again. “Okay.”
After her shower, Li Yang emerged wrapped in a cloud of damp steam.
She had changed into a green silk dress. The wet strands of her hair clung to her shoulders and collarbones, accentuating their graceful lines.
Jiang Yan took a quiet glance, then looked away.
Li Yang felt much more refreshed and sat down at the table.
Though Jiang Yan had only made plain congee and eggs, it turned out surprisingly good.
Especially the congeeāgolden, rich, and fragrant.
Li Yang praised him. “What did you put in this? It smells amazing!”
Jiang Yan said unhurriedly, “Tuchongcao.” (Earthworm herb)
“Earth… worm?”
The congee in Li Yang’s mouth suddenly didn’t taste so good. She was terrified of bugs, and just hearing the name made her uneasy.
“Mm, it’s actually just a type of herb similar to cordyceps. You don’t need to be scaredāit’s very nutritious.”
Even after his explanation, Li Yang was still hesitant to eat it. She gave an awkward smile. “How do you know about these things? Did you read about them online?”
Jiang Yan’s expression was calm.
“You probably don’t know this yet, but my biological father was Miao. So I might have inherited some of that Miao talentāI really enjoy studying herbs, insects, and things like that.”
Li Yang was surprised. “Aunt Chen never mentioned that.”
Suddenly, she thought of the man in her dream…
On his back, there was a golden, shimmering insect tattoo!
Li Yang broke out in a cold sweat instantly. She looked at Jiang Yan with uncertainty.
Since yesterday, she had occasionally caught a clean, soapy scent from Jiang Yan.
It was exactly the same as the man’s smell in her dream!
Was it just a coincidence?
