Chapter 01
âMister, let me use you for a moment.â
Yun Chu burst into the back seat of the car with lightning speed and pressed herself tightly against the man.
âGet out!â
The manâs face froze as he let out a low growl.
Where did this crazy woman come from?
Mu Ze was wearing a black shirt with a baseball cap pulled down very low over his brow. Yun Chu couldnât see his expression clearly, but she didnât have time to care about that.
âMister, cooperate with me a little, and I’ll reward you.â
Her voice was extremely low against the back of his ear, laced with tension and trembling.
The two lay in the back seat of the business van, pressed tightly together, woman on top and man on bottom, in an incredibly ambiguous posture.
Out on the roadside, two fierce-looking, middle-aged men were looking around wildly.
âDamn it! She vanished in the blink of an eye.â
âFind her before you start cursing! Check if thereâs anyone inside the cars. I don’t believe she could just disappear into thin air!â
The footsteps outside the car gradually drew closer, hammering against Yun Chuâs chest one after another. She knit her brows in panic and bit her lower lip.
What should she do?
Yun Chu lowered her eyes to look at the man beneath her.
âMister, please act out a scene with me.â
The man pushed Yun Chu away with a look of disgust, accidentally knocking his baseball cap to the floor.
âIâll say it one last time, get out!â
Without the hat covering him, the manâs face was instantly exposed. He had a rugged bone structure and deep-set eyes, with a natural mixed-race look. This appearance could absolutely rank among the top in the Imperial Capital.
Seeing that she still wasn’t moving and was pinning him down, rendering him unable to move, the man growled, âDon’t make me hit aââ
Before he could finish his sentence, the woman suddenly leaned down and pressed against him again. Her soft lips met his thin ones, her breath carrying a unique, pure fragrance.
From the corner of his eye, he spotted the shadow of a man approaching the car. He glanced back at the woman on top of him, whose features were completely crumpled in distress. She was strikingly beautiful and looked gentle, yet she actually had enemies chasing her.
How interesting…
In the blink of an eye, he wrapped his arm around Yun Chuâs slender waist, flipped over, and pinned her beneath him. Their positions instantly reversed one hundred and eighty degrees.
The man had a typical broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted build. He looked lean in clothes but possessed distinct muscle, making it effortless for him to completely shield Yun Chuâs delicate body.
A wicked smirk played at the corner of his mouth. âIf we’re going to put on a show, we might as well make it convincing. Do you know how?â
Yun Chuâs heart was in a frenzy, her mind and body stretched to their absolute limits. How could she hear what he was saying?
âWhat?â
Mu Zeâs hand rested on her waist, a trace of amusement flashing through his eyes. âLike this…â
As the words left his mouth, his two fingers lightly tickled her waist.
âMmhââ
A tingling sensation shot straight to her brain. An embarrassing groan uncontrollably filled the enclosed space.
Yun Chu snapped awake instantly, her face turning bright red, even her ears flushing completely.
âYou actually…â teased me…
Following that, he pressed her waist and pushed upward, causing the car to begin rocking gently and uncontrollably.
âIf you don’t want to be discovered, keep making noise.â
Yun Chuâs face was so red it looked like it could bleed. It was an indescribable posture and an unspeakable sound, yet the two of them had clearly done nothing at all.
Outside the car window, a man leaned in to take a closer look. He caught sight of a section of a womanâs pale, slender legs beneath a man, accompanied by faint, muffled groans.
âTsk! Playing so wild on the main road in broad daylight!â
The man next to him pulled him impatiently. âStop looking and hurry up! How are we going to report back to Miss Yun if we don’t find her?â
Yun Chu sharply caught the phrase âMiss Yunâ from their mouths. In the Imperial Capital, who else could it be but her “dear sister” Yun Xiaoxiao who held a grudge against her and shared her surname!
Once the noise outside the car faded, Yun Chuâs strained nerves finally relaxed. She instinctively bent her knees, using both her hands and feet to push the man off her.
She shoved upward with her foot, which happened to aim right at the manâs lower abdomen.
âAhâhiss!â
The piercing pain down there caused him to bend over involuntarily. The inherently noble-looking man now wore a ferocious expression, his gaze shooting like bullets into Yun Chuâs face.
Yun Chu curled her lips awkwardly and hurriedly sat up.
âIâm sorry, I… I was just too nervous. Are you okay?â
It seemed she hadn’t controlled her strength well… She had hit him a bit too hard.
Out of genuine concern, she asked, âHow about I accompany you to see an andrologist?â
Hearing this, the man glared at Yun Chu fiercely. Finally, he closed his eyes in rage, keeping his hand over his lower abdomen as he gritted his teeth and roared in a low voice, âGet out of the car, right now! Immediately!â
Knowing she was in the wrong, Yun Chu apologized repeatedly, quickly opened the car door, and stepped out.
Then another thought struck herâshe hadn’t given him his reward yet. She couldn’t break her promise.
Less than half a minute later, she turned back.
The man saw Yun Chu open the car door again, rummaging through her bag as she approached him.
âWhat do you want now?â he asked warily.
He watched as she pulled out a few cash notes.
âIâm really sorry, I only have five hundred in cash on me. Just take it as an expression of gratitude and compensation. Goodbye, mister.â
Five hundred-yuan red banknotes were instantly stuffed into the manâs long, distinct fingers. This time, Yun Chu left for good without stopping.
He stared down at the cash in his hand, a look of disbelief on his face as a complex surge of emotion welled up inside him.
âFive hundred?â
Who did she take him for?
Griping the money with a gloomy gaze, he thought bitterly to himself that she had better pray she never fell into his hands again.
After a moment, the driver returned with a large bag of medical reports and got into the car. He inadvertently caught sight of the cash in his masterâs hand.
âYoung Master, why are you suddenly using cash?â
The manâs expression suddenly changed. His eyes turned vacant as he stared straight ahead, his gaze unfocused, sitting upright like a blind man. Clutching the money tightly, he suppressed his burning rage.
With a dark face, his icy voice rang out, âGo back.â
The Yun familyâs small villa.
As soon as Yun Chu opened the door, she heard an incessant argument coming from inside. Even the sound of her opening the door was drowned out.
âHeâs a blind, wheelchair-bound cripple! How can Xiaoxiao marry him? She is your biological daughter!â A womanâs angry roar echoed through the living room.
Yun Xiaoxiao was getting married. What man was so unlucky?
Standing at the turn of the hallway, Yun Chu was about to step inside but instantly retracted her foot.
Xu Peizhi glared at the man beside her and snorted coldly, âYun Xinshan, don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning! Aren’t you just using Xiaoxiao as a bargaining chip? If someone has to marry him, let Yun Chu do it. Isn’t she your daughter too?â
âNo!â Yun Xinshan blurted out his refusal without a shred of hesitation.
Beside them, Yun Xiaoxiao sat anxiously, gripping the hem of her skirt tightly, her lower lip bitten and her eyes welling with tears. With a thud, she dropped to her knees.
âDad, if I marry him, everyone will definitely mock me for marrying a cripple. But sister has been to prison, sheâs already half a useless person! Isn’t it better to let her marry him?â
She couldn’t ruin her entire life in the Mu family. If anyone had to marry, it had to be Yun Chu!
Suddenly, a crisp, pleasant voice broke the deadlock in the living room.
âOh?â
The three of them instantly turned their gazes toward the entryway. Holding their breath, their hearts pounded wildly in unison. It was panicâguilty panic toward her.
Yun Chu stood there, her waterfall-like black hair cascading over her shoulders. Wearing a white maxi dress, she slowly walked over and stood before them.
âYun Xiaoxiao, I haven’t even settled the score with you for sending people to follow me, and now you want me to marry in your place? Who do you think you are? You sure have a lot of nerve!â
Her powerful aura intimidated Yun Xiaoxiao into silence.
âYun Chu… you heard everything,â Yun Xinshan choked out.
She nodded casually. âPretty much. What I should have heard and what I shouldn’t have heard, I heard it all.â
Yun Chu bent down, her eyes piercing toward Yun Xiaoxiao like sharp blades. âI just got out of prison yesterday, and you sent people to track me today. What’s the matter? Afraid I’ll say things I shouldn’t say to others?â
She had endured for too long, which was why these âfamily membersâ felt they could trample over her at will. Today it was tracking; what about tomorrow? Total imprisonment? Or forcing her to marry a man she didn’t even know in place of Yun Xiaoxiao?
Yun Xiaoxiao choked, raising her head to glare fiercely at her, her eyes filled with resentment. She stood up, staring wide-eyed as she argued with Yun Chu, ready to drag her down with her.
âSo what if I tracked you! Not driving you out of the Imperial Capital is already considered showing mercy. A person who has been to prison getting a chance to marry into a wealthy family should be profoundly grateful for my concession!â
If Yun Xiaoxiao had used a bit more leverage, Yun Chu wouldn’t even have had the chance to return to the Yun family to question them. What was wrong with helping her marry now? Wasn’t it good to exploit a useless personâs maximum value?
âSlap!â
Yun Chu gritted her teeth and slammed a palm across her face with all her might. Before the shocked onlookers could react, she backhanded her with another slap.
Yun Xiaoxiao was knocked to the ground.
âTo hell with your gratitude! One slap is for myself, and the other is to teach you how to be human on behalf of your parents!â
The two consecutive slaps left Yun Xiaoxiaoâs head spinning.
âXiaoxiao!â Xu Peizhi snapped out of her shock and immediately pulled Yun Xiaoxiao up to sit down. âAre you alright? Does it hurt?â
Yun Xiaoxiao wailed in Xu Peizhiâs arms.
What a picture of motherly love and filial devotion. But what about Yun Chu? Was there even a corner in this entire Yun house for her to cry?
The corners of Yun Chuâs mouth curled into a frost-cold, mocking smile. âIâm moving out tomorrow. From now on, our Yun family and I will go our separate ways.â
It was the first time Yun Xinshan had seen the usually sensible Yun Chu strike someone, and his shock was considerable. He then assumed the dignity of the head of the household.
âYun Chu! She is your sister! Even if she did something wrong, canât you show some tolerance as an older sister?â
Yun Chu looked at her father in disbelief. âRight! You only remember she is my half-sister and that I should take care of her and sacrifice for her. But do you still remember that I am an older sister? What have you ever done for me?â
Why did being the older sister mean she had to be the sacrificial lamb?
With that single question, everyone knew the truth in their hearts and didn’t dare to refute her.
Yun Chu sneered. It seemed they still cared about their pride; now they didn’t even dare to look at her. At this moment, the vast living room was so quiet it made people shudder.
Before going upstairs, Yun Chu dropped one final warning.
âI advise you all not to set your sights on me. Even a cornered rabbit will bite, and besides, there are some things in the Yun family that can’t see the light of day, right, Father?â
Moreover, she was no longer a rabbit and could no longer be docile.
Yun Chu walked upstairs, feigning ease, without looking back once. Only she knew what kind of life those three years in prison had been. Three years were enough to completely change her. The old, easily trampled Yun Chu was already dead, stifled by them in the courtroom of judgment.
In the living room, the lights burned brightly.
The three looked at each other, each harboring their own thoughts. Her words were like a ticking time bomb buried within the Yun family that no one dared trigger.
Yun Xiaoxiao suddenly grabbed Yun Xinshanâs hand, as if catching a final saving straw.
âDad, you heard her just now! Keeping her at home will only bring disaster sooner or later. Once she marries over, the Mu family is powerful enough to find a way to deal with her.â
Yun Xiaoxiao understood Yun Xinshanâs weaknesses perfectlyâhe was deeply suspicious, valued interest above all, and possessed very little affection.
Yun Xinshan looked toward the staircase where Yun Chuâs figure had disappeared, falling into deep thought. This daughter of his, who used to be so understanding and obedient, seemed to have changed. She actually dared to threaten him, her father…
A trace of disappointment flashed through his eyes, and he withdrew his gaze. âThe Mu family will come to pick up the bride tomorrow at noon.â
Tomorrow…
Yun Xiaoxiao tightly gripped her knees in anxiety, asking persistently, âBetween her and me, who is going?â
