The Crane of Bygone Years

Before my mother died, she gave me a portrait and told me to go to the capital to find my older brother.
She said my brother was a high-ranking official and would surely keep me safe and worry-free for the rest of my life.
Halfway there, the rain blurred the portrait, and to make matters worse, I was face-blind.
After wandering around the capital for half a month, I finally found the man with a red mole between his brows just before my travel money ran out.
He was holding a long sword across his neck, about to slit his own throat.
I sat down on the ground and burst into tears. “Brother, you can’t die! If you die, who’s going to take care of me? My stepfather wants to sell me off as a concubine to some idiot young master!”
The man’s expression darkened, and the sword fell to the ground.
After successfully latching onto my brother, I began living a life of fine clothes and exquisite food.
Just as I was snuggled happily in my brother’s arms…
