Chapter : 04
The Rich Young Master’s Ex-Girlfriend (4)
Just as everyone in the karaoke building was lost in Tang Guo’s singing, the voice stopped abruptly, and they all woke from their reverie.
Their minds were still lingering on the song, but Tang Guo had only sung half of itāthe best part remained unfinished. One by one, they turned accusing gazes toward the woman on stage.
“Miss?”
The musician had no choice but to stop as well, looking utterly confused.
Tang Guo put down the microphone and gave a light cough. “My throat’s a bit uncomfortable. I won’t sing the rest. Thanks, everyone.”
The musician stared at Tang Guo with hopeful eyes, wishing she would finish the song, but she had already walked off the stage.
By the time others thought to look for her, she was nowhere to be found.
The abrupt end of the song made the man at the railing frown. A waft of perfume drifted toward him, forcing him to open his eyes.
He gazed at the beautiful woman before him holding a wine glass. She looked at him with a hesitating, yearning expression. “Mr. Leng, you haven’t finished listening to my song yet. Shall we go inside and continue?”
“If Mr. Leng prefers listening out here, I can sing outside,” the woman said with an obedient look, handing the glass to the man. “I even brought your wine glass over for you.”
The man’s sharp eyes fixed on her until her back was drenched in sweat and her legs went weak, barely able to stand. His thin lips curled into a cold smirk.
He took the glass, squeezed it lightly, and it shattered into pieces. Dark red liquid flowed down his palm. The woman collapsed to the floor in terror, her face instantly turning pale.
“Mr. Leng…”
An icy, sharp shard pressed against her chin. The stinging pain at her neck made her tremble all over, and she couldn’t utter another word.
Just as she thought he would slit her throat, the shard suddenly left her body.
“You should thank the woman who was singing just now.”
“I don’t want to see blood right now.”
The man took out a handkerchief and wiped the dark red liquid from his palm, then turned and walked away.
The woman burst into sobs. Having offended this man, her future was ruined. She regretted why she had been so bewitched as to try drugging him??
Back in the private room, the man stretched his arms out and leaned back on the sofa, a cigarette dangling from his lips. In a lazy tone, he asked, “Found the woman who was singing earlier?”
“Mr. Leng, the surveillance shows she left the karaoke building,” the manager said, breaking out in a cold sweat. “She left right after stepping off the stage. If I’d known you’d be looking for her, I would have had someone keep her here. I’ve already sent people to find her.”
The man waved his hand. “No need. My people will find her.”
Then the man stood up, and the manager quickly straightened.
“Mr. Leng is leaving already?”
The man was already out of the private room, and only then did the manager wipe his cold sweat in relief. These women were all so troublesomeādaring to drug that man. Didn’t they know who he was? It had nearly scared him to death.
Fortunately, fortunately another woman had come along to draw his attention away.
[Host, what exactly are you scheming?]
Tang Guo was curled up on the sofa in a SpongeBob SquarePants nightgown, watching TV. She actually found the nightgown a bit tacky, but unfortunately, the original owner only had SpongeBob nightgowns and Pleasant Goat nightgowns…
[Host, are you watching this talent show because you’re planning to follow the original plot?] The system was in tears. [Host, have you finally come to your senses and decided to properly play the cannon-fodder role?]
Tang Guo spat out a grape skin, wiped her mouth and hands with a napkin, and said, “I want to be a singer. I want to sing.”
[Host, I love you! You’ve finally stopped breaking character and returned to normal!] The system wept tears of joy.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
