Chapter – 10
Chaos Demon God! Finally Arriving at the Primordial Continent!
“Thank you for the kind offer, Fellow Daoist White Dragon. However, I am currently cultivating a divine ability and cannot leave at the moment.”
“Next time, I will definitely visit your cave dwelling.”
Since the White Dragon had extended a friendly invitation, he couldn’t refuse it coldly.
“Very well, you are always welcome. The Dragon Clan also welcomes you anytime, Fellow Daoist.”
There was a hidden meaning in the White Dragon’s words, but Kunpeng chose to ignore it. After exchanging a few pleasantries, he took his leave.
“So it really is a Chaos Demon God!”
Back on Penglai Immortal Island, Yuan Lian had been tirelessly analyzing that drop of blood.
It took him nearly a thousand years to completely erase the boundless resentment within it.
Of course, he had no intention of absorbing or refining the demon god’s blood.
Unless he wanted to dieâor worse, turn into something like those primal beastsâmindless, chaotic, and driven only by destruction.
The path of the Chaos Demon God was one of disorder and chaos. Walking that path meant only one end: destruction.
Either destroy everything, annihilate the heavens and earth to prove your own Dao, or fall along the way.
He wasn’t foolish. He knew exactly which choice to make.
All he needed was the insight into the Great Dao contained within the Chaos Demon God’s blood. There was no need to refine itâhe could simply comprehend the dissipating Dao origin as the blood was being destroyed.
*Boom!!*
Once the blood was freed from the demon god’s resentment, Yuan Lian easily crushed it.
As the blood shattered, countless radiant yet fragmented laws scattered in all directions.
Yuan Lian immediately calmed his mind and quietly began to perceive them.
“Rustle, rustle, rustle!”
The Huangzhong Li tree’s branches and leaves trembled, releasing immeasurable Dao rhythm that imprisoned the escaping laws within his domain, slowly absorbing them into the tree.
Time flowed like water, silent and endless.
“So this is a Chaos Demon God… truly beyond imagination!” Yuan Lian slowly came to, letting out a heartfelt sigh.
Just a single drop of blood left behind by a Chaos Demon God after countless eons had already given him enormous benefits.
After contemplating these principles, all he needed was to slowly absorb them and transform them into his own laws and principles, and his cultivation would rise once more.
Moreover, from these fragmented laws, he had deduced a new divine ability.
By colliding two different laws along mysterious and unfathomable trajectories, he could unleash a terrifying law of annihilation to obliterate his enemies.
For example: water and fire, yin and yang, motion and stillness…
Ultimately, even heaven and earth would be annihilated.
This was not a simple collisionâthat would most likely result in mutual annihilation and cancellation.
“Unfortunately, there’s no merit karma. If I could forge a protective spirit treasure with merit, I’d be much safer.”
Yuan Lian still felt a trace of regret.
Ah, merit!
The Primordial Continent was so dangerous. If he could refine a meritorious spirit treasure, then whenever someone tried to strike him, he could just drape that treasure over himself.
Come on! Hit me if you dare!
Just thinking about it made him feel blissful.
Pushing aside his tangled thoughts, Yuan Lian took out the remaining wood-attribute spirit roots and materials, refining them into wood-attribute spiritual energy, then gradually purified and strengthened the primal Jia Wood essence.
However, ordinary wood-attribute spirit roots were merely a drop in the bucket. After purification and conversion into primal Jia Wood energy, they became even thinner.
Cultivation was slow, but at least it was pure.
And even this was something others could only dream of. Without that sliver of primal Jia Wood essence as the foundation, such purification and reverse refinement would be impossible.
Yuan Lian was the kind of person who complained even while being blessed.
If he wanted to go faster, he could.
He could refine the Huangzhong Li tree itselfâor even just a part of itâsince that was the purest primal Jia Wood essence.
But if he dared to try, the Huangzhong Li tree would probably suppress and kill him.
Cultivation knew no time.
By the time Yuan Lian had consumed all his wood-attribute materials, he knew it was time to venture out again.
The four necessities of cultivation: wealth, companions, dharma, and location.
Wealth was listed firstâa testament to the importance of resources.
“No wonder those ancient races are so powerful, yet never stop expanding.”
“Even if plundering resources isn’t the only reason, it’s certainly one of the most important.”
“I’m so poor!”
—
Above the endless sea, a small boat soared through the air.
Yuan Lian sat cross-legged on it, letting out a bored cry.
Increasing his realm wasn’t something that could be done in a short time. Once his magical power was full, further meditation was useless.
Flying onward, Yuan Lian drifted through tens of thousands of years in boredom.
However, those ten thousand years weren’t completely wastedâat least they tempered his Dao heart.
Cultivation spanned endless time. If one couldn’t endure solitude or settle the mind, it would be ill-advised.
Those thousand years of refinement had stabilized his Dao heart and diminished his restlessness.
“I’ve finally reached the Primordial Continent!” Yuan Lian stood up, gazing at the land tens of thousands of miles away, a hint of emotion in his voice.
Putting away his boat, Yuan Lian stepped onto the earth.
As time turned, Yuan Lian no longer rushed. Instead, he flew while quietly observing the Primordial World.
“Life is already flourishing across the Primordial Continent. Every moment, living beings are born and pass away.”
“But most are acquired spirits and monsters, along with countless others still gestating.”
“The Primordial World is like a giant incubator, ceaselessly hatching life, endless and infinite.”
However, acquired spirits and monsters were fundamentally different from primal divine beings.
Primal divine beings were born with innate laws, aligned with the Dao, and from birth understood the pursuit of the Great Dao, possessing infinite potential.
Acquired beings, on the other hand, were muddled and chaotic, acting on instinct and limited experience. A rare few might awaken to their true selves, but the vast majority were merely the foundation stones of the Primordial World.
*Boom, boom, boom!!!*
Ahead stretched a small forest spanning ten thousand miles, with a towering ancient tree reaching ten thousand zhang into the sky.
Above its canopy, lightning danced and rain poured with fierce winds.
“All these trees stretching ten thousand miles are actually nurtured by its roots… its consciousness is awakening.” Yuan Lian stopped with interest.
Thunder rumbled deafeningly, flashing brilliantly across the sky, then struck the ancient tree directly.
The tree shook its branches and leaves with all its might.
The lightning passed, and much of the ancient tree was destroyed.
This was only ordinary weatherâa naturally occurring thunderstorm.
The tree was not undergoing transformation; Yuan Lian could sense that it possessed only a vague awareness, not yet a true spirit.
“Though any being can awaken their spirit and embark on the path of cultivation through the baptism of sun and moon essence…”
“This world is far too dangerous. A thunderstorm, a wildfireâany of these can cut short their brief lives.”
Yuan Lian watched these scenes, feeling deeply moved.
“Thus, any being that steps onto the path of cultivation is blessed by fateâbut that is only the beginning.”
“Only by undergoing trials, one after another, and ascending step by step through this arduous processâeven primal divine beings cannot escape this.”
“The Great Dao is boundless!”
Yuan Lian turned his gaze back to the ancient tree. After enduring several more lightning strikes, it had completely collapsed, leaving only a stump less than a hundred zhang tall.
The tallest tree is the first to be broken by the wind.
Yuan Lian did not interfere. Everything followed the natural order of heaven and earth.
Before long, the storm ceased.
The forest, ravaged by the tempest, returned to its former appearanceâas if nothing had changed, yet everything had changed.
Yuan Lian descended and walked through the woods.
He saw many monsters and spirits moving through the forest. A wolf-like beast preyed on creatures weaker than itself.
But just as it swallowed its meal, a roc swooped down, swallowed the wolf whole, then devoured an entire nearby herd before flying away satisfied.
“All things give birth to one another, races oppose one another, the cycle revolves, and life never ceases.”
Yuan Lian walked quickly and soon arrived beside the shattered ancient tree.
The tree’s trunk was cracked and withered, its faint consciousness extinguished. But just as he was about to leave, a trace of green in the blackened, dry fissure made him pause.
“This is life.”
Yuan Lian gazed at that tiny green sprout for a long while, then soared away.
“Damned primal beasts! How dare you invade my Western Kunlun? Die!”
