Chapter 04

Bo Zhan stopped in his tracks, turned around to look at Duan Jianguo, and cut straight to the chase, “What is your relationship with Yun Shu?”

“…” Hearing this, alarm bells rang loudly in Duan Jianguo’s mind. “Who are you to her?”

Bo Zhan, however, answered with a question of his own, “Answer what you’re asked. What does it matter to you who the hell I am?”

Duan Jianguo hadn’t read much of this period novel; he had only heard bits and pieces from his girlfriend. The male lead in the book was tall and muscular, the type of guy who would absolutely use his fists rather than waste time talking. Looking at the man in front of him, Duan Jianguo made a bold guess, “Could you be Bo Zhan?!”

“You certainly have sharp eyes.” Bo Zhan’s face remained cold, showing not a shred of emotion, yet one could feel the suffocating sense of oppression radiating from his entire body. “It saves me the trouble of wasting my breath.”

Holy crap!

Duan Jianguo’s jaw almost dropped to the floor. Holding his chin as he looked at the man before him, after confirming the other party’s identity, he immediately declared his affection for Yun Shu.

“I know it’s hard for you to accept, but we are true love. I hope you can fulfill our wishes. After all, forced love never works out! Besides, Yun Shu and I have already… cooked the rice, the deed is done. She even swore to me that in this life, she belongs to me in birth and will be my ghost in death.”

To make Bo Zhan believe him, Duan Jianguo even showed Bo Zhan the letters exchanged between the two of them. “You and Yun Shu are truly unsuited for each other. Don’t worry, I will definitely raise your child as my own and will never mistreat him in the slightest.”

What a joke. When the time came, the very first thing he would do was make Yun Shu abort the child. The male lead in the novel was supposed to agree to divorce Yun Shu. As long as he showed himself to be even more infatuated with Yun Shu, the male lead would definitely let go.

However, what Duan Jianguo didn’t know was that Yun Shu was no longer the original Yun Shu—her soul had already been swapped. He was just waiting for Bo Zhan to be moved by his declarations and let go after reading the letters. After all, no grown man could accept being cuckolded.

When Bo Zhan returned to the guesthouse, he smoked through an entire pack of cigarettes in a row but still couldn’t suppress the rage in his heart. No man could be happy about being cuckolded. Traveling all this way back, the divorce didn’t happen, and he successfully got fitted with a green hat. He knew Yun Shu’s change of heart was highly suspicious. All that absolute nonsense about him not accompanying her was just her deliberately looking for trouble to disgust him. Whether they divorced or not didn’t matter anymore; he only wanted the child in Yun Shu’s belly. As soon as the child was born, he would take the baby away.

In the morning, just as Yun Shu stepped out from her spatial storage, she learned the news that Bo Zhan had returned to his military unit. Yan Meili was currently holding a letter that Bo Zhan had sent over through someone. The letter simply stated that urgent matters required his immediate return to the unit, and said nothing else.

“Yun Shu, didn’t you and Bo Zhan talk things through and make peace?”

The couple looked toward Yun Shu. The man hadn’t returned for the entire night and left without even sharing a meal at the Yun residence. Even if it was an emergency, given Bo Zhan’s character, he wouldn’t leave without showing his face to say goodbye. No matter how they looked at it, this didn’t seem like the posture of a reconciliation!

Yun Shu was also completely bewildered. “When did he leave?”

What was wrong with this man? She had planned to bring up the matter of returning to the military unit with him today!

While she was wondering, an anxious female voice suddenly echoed from the doorway, “This is bad, Miss Yun! Director Duan has met with an accident.”

Duan Jianguo could be counted as one of the male supporting characters in the novel. When acting as a simp for the female lead, he was quite loyal, giving her the best of everything. Yan Meili quickly stepped forward, blocking the incoming Li Lifang outside the threshold. “If someone is hurt, go to the hospital. It’s useless to look for my Yun Shu.”

That girl had finally come to her senses with great difficulty. If she got entangled by Duan Jianguo again, there was no telling what kind of scene she would cause!

Yun Guoliang didn’t say anything, but looked at his precious daughter, his eyes carrying a hint of testing. “If you want to go, then go. Your stepmother and I won’t stop you.”

Yun Shu smiled slightly and said nothing. Asking Li Lifang to wait for a moment, she went back into the room to change her clothes.

It was very sunny outside now. Yun Shu draped a violet veil over herself, covering even her head. Seeing Yan Meili in a daze, Yun Guoliang patted her shoulder to remind her, “Yun Yun is speaking to you. She’s asking if you can accompany her to the hospital?”

Yan Meili also put on a sun-protection scarf and supported Yun Shu as they went to the hospital together.

Duan Jianguo had been beaten to the point of breaking four ribs, and his internal organs also had some bleeding points, though fortunately not many. He had been discovered by a passing tofu vendor just as the sky was breaking, which was how he got sent to the hospital.
