Chapter : 12
The Rich Young Master’s Ex-Girlfriend (12)
100, 100, 100.
Three score cards, all showing perfect marks, appeared side by side before the camera. Even the host exclaimed in surprise and asked the mentors why they had given full scoresāthough, in truth, he himself was quite moved.
“From now on, if anyone ever says someone’s voice was kissed by an angel, I’ll slap them right across the face,” Mentor Number One said gravely. “They ought to come and listen to contestant number sixty-two’s voice.”
“Her voice is simply flawless. I’ve run out of words to describe it,” Mentor Number Three said, her lips quivering. “This is the best voice I’ve ever heard onĀ The Sound of Music, bar none. I don’t know if there will ever be anyone to surpass her, but this is certainly unprecedented.”
The host noticed that Mentor Number Two hadn’t spoken, so he asked about Mentor Number Two’s thoughts at the moment.
The audience perked upācould there be a different take?
To everyone’s surprise, Mentor Number Two looked rather regretful and gave an embarrassed smile.
“I’m just a little disappointed. If she could keep singing forever, I might finally get a good night’s sleep. I’ve been suffering from insomnia for years, and this contestant number sixty-two seems like she could cure my chronic sleeplessness.”
That remark made everyone burst into laughter.
In the end, Mentor Number Two said one more thing: “I hope you can release an album as soon as possible. I’ll be the first to buy it. My insomnia is still waiting for you to help cure it.”
With that half-joking, half-serious remark, the competition came to a close.
The contestants watching from backstage were all discussing Tang Guo’s voice.
Even Leng Ziyue had been completely immersed in it just moments ago.
Xiao Guo had always sung well, but he had never known she could sound this good. So mesmerizing that one couldn’t help but fall into it without realizing.
Probably only one person on site remained clear-headedāand that was Lu Qi.
She had arrived full of confidence. Her years of studying abroad were no joke; among these newcomers, she was certain she would have no rivals. She could even hold her own against some established singers.
What she hadn’t expected was that everything had only just begun, and Tang Guo’s appearance had shattered her dreams in an instant.
This Tang Guo, who had once occupied Leng Ziyue’s time, made her feel both jealous and resentful.
“Qiqi, don’t you think Tang Guo’s voice is beautiful?” A girl beside her, noticing that Lu Qi wasn’t speaking, assumed she too was lost in Tang Guo’s singing.
Lu Qi’s expression stiffened slightly. She lowered her gaze. “It’s very nice.” Then, suddenly shifting the topic, she asked, “She didn’t participate in the auditions before this?”
“The auditions? I didn’t see her at the auditions at all. If she had been there, I definitely wouldn’t have forgottenāafter all, she sings so wonderfully.”
Without raising her eyes, Lu Qi said, “So she went straight to the semifinals. She must be some heiress from a well-connected family.” She frowned slightly. “It’s been a few years since I’ve been back in the country, and I’ve forgotten quite a bit. I can’t seem to recall where I might have seen her before.”
The girl was taken aback for a moment, then a thought crossed her mind. “Maybe so.”
The finals would take place two weeks later. In the meantime, the semifinal recordings would be aired in two episodes.
The first episode did not feature Lu Qi or Tang Guo. But by the second episode, their performances were being celebrated by many.
Lu Qi was crowned the “Sultry-Voice Goddess,” while Tang Guo was dubbed the “Pure Angel.”
However, no sooner had Tang Guo received this title than she suddenly became a trending topic.
A Weibo post titled “The ‘Pure Angel’ Isn’t Actually PureāShe Slept Her Way to the Top with a Sugar Daddy” was met with a frenzy of comments.
