Chapter – 10
The Tutor
Several days had passed since then.
“Good morning, Hikari.”
“Good morning, Father!”
Early in the morning, I went with Mother to Father’s office, where he was waiting, and straightened my back with a snap.
“Thanks to Muse, I’ve found a promising tutor.”
A woman stood beside my father, her back straight.
She had a soft aura with a touch of dignity about her, and she seemed a little nervous.
“My name is Yuth Nanodia. My husband is always in your care.”
“…Huh?”
Whose wife is she?
“Yuth, this is an official setting right now, so let’s save that for later, okay?”
“Oh, so she’s Muse-san’s wife?”
“Yes. Apparently she taught at the academy before they got married. He said that if we were going to hire someone unfamiliar, he’d rather have his wife do it.”
(Oh, it’s a nepotism hire!)
I don’t really care who teaches me, as long as they do, but I hope they’re not too strict…
“Are you Lady Hikari?”
She stepped forward a little, bent her knees, and met my eyes.
“I’m Hikari Wingarte!”
I greeted Yuth with my practiced copied bow.
And then, she simply said:
“An angel.”
“Huh?”
Muse and Yuth aren’t related by blood, are they?
They’re wife and husband, right?
“All I need to do is make Lady Hikari into a goddess of knowledge, correct?”
“Yuth, please calm down?”
My father looked troubled by her reaction.
Quite an eccentric person has become my tutor.
“That’s right. Since Yuth will be tutoring Hikari, I’ll be looking after two children at home during study hours. Chal, could I ask you to handle that?”
“Understood, Master.”
With one beautifully precise bow.
Hidden behind my father’s desk, I hadn’t seen them, but two children, each a head taller than me, popped up out of nowhereâa boy and a girl.
“This is my daughter Natsu, and my son Luca. They’re both six years old.”
” “Please treat us well.” “
They greeted us in unison, but they seemed a littleâno, quiteâunsettled.
In situations like this, my past life is completely useless, but my four-year-old social skills come in very handy.
“Natsu-chan, Luca-kun! I’m Hikari Wingarte!”
Since they’ll be staying here while I study, I probably won’t interact with them much, but I hope I can help ease their hearts, even just a little, in this nerve-wracking world of nobility.
Actually, I’m sure I’ll end up interacting with them both sooner or later anyway.
After all, they’re the children of Museâthe right-hand man of my father, the Countâand the tutor of a Count’s daughter.
“I do have teaching materials ready, but shall we start today? Or from tomorrowâ”
“Starting today!”
I answered eagerly.
I want to learn as much as I can while I still have the motivation.
“Understood. Then, Lord Oswald, what room will you be using?”
“Use the study. It’s quiet there, and I’ve bought a few easier books too, so feel free to use them as needed.”
“Understood. Well then, let’s go.”
“Yes! Father, Mother, I’m going now!”
“Do your best, okay?”
“Hehe, have a good time!”
Watched off by my parents, Muse, and Chal, Yuth and I headed to the study.
And for some reason, she was holding my hand.
“Um, if it’s not too forward of me, there’s one thing I’d like to ask.”
“Yes!”
Well, she doesn’t seem like someone who’d be overly rude, but when dealing with nobles, a preamble is probably necessary.
“Would you allow me to carry you as we walk?”
“Huh?”
Wait, why?
“It’s just… you remind me a bit of Natsu from a while ago, and she won’t let me carry her anymore now…”
“I see…”
So it’s ‘loss,’ huh.
“Um, I’ll allow it! Is that right?”
“You know it well! That’s exactly what you say to someone beneath you, to teach them what’s good and what’s bad!”
“Got it!”
And so, Yuth carried me all the way to the study.
